The intellectual genius behind Project BRAINCHILD, an impressive array of analysts and think tank specialists conceived in 1970 at the height of the Cold War, whose handpicked teams of scientists, theorists, and political forecasters were at the forefront of the United States’ intelligence effort. A friend of the eventually deposed DCI Richard McGarrah Helms, Goodchilde was able to use his political allies and military contacts to keep this radical experiment well funded and ‘off book’. When President Isaac Hunt was elected to office in the early 90’s the US stepped up its agenda to ‘police the world’ to which BRAINCHILD was tapped to lead the charge. This sat poorly with the aging Goodchilde, who felt that with the invention of the Internet, BRAINCHILD could finally realize its full potential. The pair would clash and Goodchilde would spend the last few months of his life voicing is displeasure at what he considered a gross exploitation of his life’s work, that unfortunately alienated him from much of his staff.
After his tragic death under suspicious circumstances, little time was given over to BRAINCHILD to investigate. Within two days, orders were passed down that divided the project’s assets up and shipped them across the globe to hot spots of Hunt’s police campaign.
